I'm sorry if this offends anyone, but I REALLY need to get this off my chest!!!

UGHH!!!!! People are sooo ignorant it PISSES me off!!!!!! I have been a unitarian for 13 Fucking years, I think I have a pretty good idea as to what it is. You just found out about it, like, yesterday, so what right do you, rachel, and whoever else was in that car, have to tell me what I have to believe in?!? Obviously you are lacking in understanding about unitarian universalism, so let me explain:

UUism is not a Christian church. 50 or so years ago it was, it is not any more. It is possible to be a Christian Unitarian, as it is possible to be an Athiest Unitarian, or a Jewish Unitarian, or a Neo-Pagan Unitarian, or an Agnostic Unitarian like me. You can be anything and be Unitarian. Its not like being a "Jewish-Christian", like you said today, so nicely displaying your ignorance. So don't tell me that you can't, because I know better than you on this subject.

There are only a few specific things in our "doctrine." We must believe in the "inherent worth and dignity of every person," for example, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. We also must respect the "interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part." So other than a respect for the earth and for humanity, we can believe whatever we want, pretty much. We believe that spiritual wisdom lies in each person, that everyone is on their own proverbial spiritual "journey." Sermons and such are not to dictate to us what we should believe, but rather helps us along on this "Journey."

maybe you are used to religions that have a specific creed, that tell you what to believe in, and that's fine, most people are more comfortable in that setting. Maybe it is difficult for you to comprehend a religious setting that is also non-denominational. so just believe me when I say it is possible, its just not for everyone. Don't judge things that you don't understand.

thank you.
