nice, monaco, juan les pins
well this weekend i went to the riviera. stayed in a hostel in nice and friday night visited monaco, and saturday went to the town of juan les pins, made famous by the likes of f. scott fitzgerald and others. nice was nice. i didn't get to spend enough time there. monaco was surprisingly extremely boring. i thought it would be exciting, but there was not much going on. basically just a lot of extraordinarily wealthy people who prance around in their extraordinarily expensive cars and evening gowns and go to the casino. everything there is expenive. but it was pretty, and worth going there just to say you've been!juan les pins was similar . . . glitzy and glamorous and expensive. basically that is how the whole riviera is so i'm not a huge fan. but it is very pretty and looks just like you dream about it in middle school french class. and there are lots of topless women on the beachand the water is very clear azure blue. very nice. butin the end i \think i still like my atlantic beaches back home, where even though the water is brownish, its warm and the beaches are wide adn expansive and there is enough room for everyone and they are all public and there are big waves.
being in france can be very frustrating. being anywhere foreign is i guess, according to that culture shock curve. i guess by the time i leave is according to this curve when i will finally be getting used to living here and learn to appreciate it more. oh well!
