cherry blossoms

well its that time of year again, that last stretch before finals where i feel as though i spend more time in front of my computer than i do sleeping, or eating, or just normally functioning. this past weekend was especially hectic, and on top of all that figuring out everything i have to do for this summer just drives me insane. so just when i can't stand it anymore, i decided after i got out of my class at 9:30 this morning that I would take this lull in assignments to go to the tidal basin and take in the scenery. After all, the cherry trees only bloom once a year. And I was hoping that the droves of tourists here over the weekend would have dissipated by monday.

so i hopped on a bus headed toward downtown. i couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day. there was a good number of people down there, but luckily not too many to ruin the whole morning. i of course went crazy with my camera, trying to capture, like everyone else, that cliché picture of the jefferson memorial framed ever-so-perfectly by bursting pink branches.

we didn't stay down there too long, but it was long enough to get some peace of mind and forget for a few minutes everything we have to do.
